Miami vs. FSU football: College GameDay proves Noles still a TV draw
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU football might be a running joke to some fans and analysts, but College GameDay choosing the Miami/FSU game proves the Noles are still a TV draw.
FSU football fans were not too excited to hear the Noles would have another Prime Time game after the performance in the Georgia Tech game.
To make matters worse, Miami won their game, FSU fans have no faith the Noles will be competitive with the Hurricanes, not to mention College GameDay has announced they will be in Miami for the game.
There are lots of jokes from opposing fans, and even FSU fans with how the Noles have looked the past three seasons.
The opening game loss against Georgia Tech didn’t help in proving things were on the upswing in Tallahassee, although I did notice some improvements in certain things compared to years past.
Thoughts
This game likely would not be chosen for College GameDay under normal circumstances with the Noles coming off the loss and unranked.
Miami is ranked No. 12, and there are several games between two ranked programs that College GameDay decided to skip in favor of the Miami/FSU game.
It proves the Noles are still a national brand despite the downward trend the past few seasons, not to mention the games with Miami are usually competitive. Aside from last season, the games have been decided by five points or less the past five seasons.
Miami has taken advantage of the ‘Noles troubles, winning the last three games, but amazingly the Noles have had the lead in the fourth quarter in two of the last three games.
A lot of people are not giving the Noles a real shot of beating Miami, but ESPN’s FPI stat gives FSU football a 43.7 percent chance of winning the game.
The Hurricanes have opened as -9.5 betting favorites:
The Noles will go into the game without head coach Mike Norvell who tested positive for COVID-19.
