Final Thoughts

Man, listen. I probably go easier on James Blackman than most because a lot of where he is right now isn’t his fault. However, at the same time, I understand the frustration of fans, and I know better QB play would cover up A LOT of issues.

However, I see if from the coaches’ point of view too. If the wide receivers didn’t have those drops early in the game, James Blackman probably doesn’t have 43 passing attempts.

If the offensive penalties didn’t put the team in long distances when the Noles had good field position they could have likely put up more than 13 points.

Did James Blackman throw about six or seven passes that had you like, what are you doing?

Absolutely!

However, at the same time, it’s not all his fault the offense looked so terrible after the first two series.

FSU had the ball on offense 10 times(11 if you want to count the last possession with 39 seconds on the clock), and moved the ball into Georgia Tech territory on six of those drives, and had opportunities to score on four of them(counting the missed field goal).

Penalties and not having a running game put a ton of pressure on James Blackman. Am I about ready to see someone else take snaps? Yes, but I can see where the coaches are coming from in regards to watching the game objectively. However, plays like this have FSU football fans steaming behind the ears.

La’Damian Webb is wide open for a touchdown coming out of the flats, and Blackman throws it into triple coverage down the middle of the field. This subject is something I have been preaching all offseason. He has to be able to find the check downs instead of forcing it deep, and it is why FSU football fans are ready to see someone else behind center.

The offense was close to breaking that game open and didn’t make the plays when they presented themselves. The question is, can they make them against Miami in less than two weeks?
