James Blackman’s Patience

James Blackman started the 2019 season on fire, lighting up the Boise State defense in the first half. It looked as though the FSU offense would be unstoppable, but the second half began, and they proceeded to meltdown like Frosty the Snowman in a Florida summer.

James Blackman has the talent and can be a good quarterback. We’ve seen glimpses of it, but we need him to be consistent and patient.

Will he get rid of the ball instead of taking a sack? Will he take the check-downs when they’re there instead of forcing the ball deep?

The latter is something we need to see from Blackman Saturday afternoon. FSU’s offense will not be one that can consistently overcome second and third and long situations.

The best unit of Georgia Tech’s defense is their secondary, so it’s best to avoid the pass rush in those situations and forcing the ball downfield under pressure against that unit.
