Former FSU football defensive back Jalen Ramsey lands a huge contract extension with the LA Rams. Fans react to the news.
Jalen Ramsey is now the highest-paid cornerback in NFL history. The five-year extension is reportedly worth 105 million dollars.
He’s always talked on and off the field. He helped FSU win a national championship, was a top-five overall draft pick, and now is the highest-paid cornerback ever in the NFL.
There’s 71.2 million of the deal guaranteed, with Ramsey averaging 21 million dollars per year.
The deal surpasses cornerback Tre’Davious White’s contract with the Buffalo Bills, which happened this week.
Adam Schefter had the news via his Twitter account Wednesday morning:
Jalen Ramsey and the LA Rams have agreed to terms on a massive extension that totally resets the cornerback market. The 5 year $105M extension averages $21M per year and is the largest contract signed by a cornerback.

Thoughts
Jalen Ramsey deserves the money as he’s arguably still one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL. Any player that can reach the second contract in the league is huge because usually, that’s going to be the biggest contact they’ll receive.
As you can see, it’s good for FSU football, as fans can talk their smack about “DBU” and always point to producing great players that go get paid in the NFL.
This news is something FSU coaches can point to as well, as high school recruits will be more familiar with Jalen Ramsey and what accomplished in Tallahassee and what’s he’s done since being the No. 5 overall draft pick in 2016.
Ramsey getting this contract is huge for other reasons too. Ramsey will turn 26 years old in October, which means this contract will run into his early 30s.
As we all know, most defensive backs will start to lose a step around that time. The good news for Ramsey is he has experience playing safety and could extend his career longer by making that move at that time if he chose to do so.
