FSU football depth chart: Projecting the 2020 offensive starting lineup
By Kelvin Hunt
As FSU football fall camp has concluded, here is a look at how we predict the Noles depth chart will shake out heading into the season.
FSU football is less than a week away from opening the season against Georgia Tech. Here we’ll be looking at how some of the position battles are unfolding and trying to project who the starters will be.
We don’t have any crystal balls, and there’s a ton of talent on the roster. In some cases, there’s no such thing as a “starter” because FSU could use rotations and situational players.
Here’s how we think things could potentially shake out as we officially enter game week:
Quarterback
Announced Starter: James Blackman
Back Up: Tate Rodemaker
Backup #2: Jordan Travis
Backup #3: Chubba Purdy(as he recovers from injury)
FSU football will have Blackman back under center in 2020 after a tumultuous 2019 season where he had to share time with Alex Hornibrook.
Jordan Travis has missed a bit of time in fall camp, which means Tate Rodemaker likely received more snaps and practice and is more familiar with the offense.
I expect Jordan Travis to be used situationally, as he can be dangerous with his legs in different situations. The injury to Chubba Purdy helped clear things up quite a bit, but he could see action later in the season depending on how things are and how he heals.
