Defensive Backs

Starters
Boundary Corner- Akeem Dent, Jarrian Jones (Back up)
Field Corner-Asante Samuels Jr., Meiko Dotson (Back up)
Buck Safety-Jaiden Lars-Woodbey, Cyrus Fagan (Back up),
Field Safety-Travis Jay, Renardo Green (Back up) (Hamsah Nasirildeen starts if healthy)

This group is one of the most talented units in college football. Asante Samuel Jr.’s spot is solidified, but all of the other positions could feature numerous combinations.

I like Akeem Dent  at the boundary cornerback position. He would have been a freshman All-American if he hadn’t dropped at least three interceptions last season. Mississippi State transfer Jarrian Jones will see action there too more than likely.

Jaiden Lars-Woodbey returns to the secondary after missing most of last season with an injury. Hamsah Nasirildeen’s health is in question, but he’d be the starter at field safety if healthy. However, until he returns, Travis Jay has made a ton of plays in fall camp, so I’m putting him in the starter position just ahead of Renardo Green, who is solid too.

Meiko Dotson is a player that could play multiple positions and will see meaningful snaps during the season. Jarvis Brownlee, Brendan Gant, and Demorie Tate could play this season as well.

The depth in the secondary is a wonderful problem to have, and this unit should be improved over the past few seasons.
