Lawrence Toafili

The FSU backfield doesn’t have Cam Akers ready to put the running game on his back in 2020. I’ve long said Texas A&M transfer Jashaun Corbin will likely be the workhorse, but I expect it to be a committee approach, too.

One name that’s started to emerge as of late is freshman running back Lawrance Toafili. Toafili was a four-star running back rated as the No. 227 player overall and No. 19 running back in the 2020 recruiting class.

Toafili lists at 6’0″ and 180 pounds, with the latter making me weary that he’s built well enough to withstand the physical pounding that occurs at the position.

However, after hearing Mike Norvell and teammates rave about his emergence, I’m inclined to think he’ll be a factor in 2020.

Not to mention, Norvell likes to use his backs in the passing game too, so there are a couple of ways Toafii could make an impact.

Toafili will need to become a willing blocker in pass protection, or teams will be able to cue in on his role as the season progresses.

I could see Toafili getting around 70 carries for 300 rushing yards, which would be more than Khalan Laborn last season.
