FSU football: Position group confidence rankings for 2020 season
By Kelvin Hunt
Defensive Line/Ends
This defensive line is one of the best in college football. Marvin Wilson, Cory Durden, Robert Cooper, Fabien Lovett, Joshua Kaindoh, Janarius Robinson are formidable.
Amari Gainer proved to be a playmaker as the season went on last year as a redshirt freshman too.
The question mark for this group is, who’s going to be a legitimate threat to rush the passer? Kaindoh looked to be turning the corner before being lost for the season with an injury in the third game of the season last year. Robinson flashes at times, and the interior has proven they can collapse a pocket with the best of them.
There’s also good depth with Tru Thompson, Quashon Fuller, and transfer Jarrett Jackson. I’m hopeful Malcolm Ray will emerge too.
I think this group will be able to get pressure with the front four, but I also believe they’ll be able to execute different stunts to free up guys and create one-on-one matchups.
There’s not as much proven depth as I’d like at the defensive end position, but Derrick McClendon, Josh Griffis, Deonte Williams should be serviceable.
Confidence Ranking-9(was 6 last year)
