Offensive Line

The FSU football offensive line has consistently gone downhill since the 2016 season, and they were not great at pass protecting that year. Dalvin Cook probably made them look better than they were.

This unit improved slightly last season but was still in the bottom half of the ACC. FSU offensive line coach Alex Atkins has a task in front of him, but I believe he’s up for the challenge.

They allowed 48 sacks and 111 tackles for loss last season, which were among the worst in the nation.

The interior of the line isn’t terrible, with the issues being at the tackle position. However, they’ve got a few pieces this season they didn’t have last year. Graduate transfer Devonte Love-Taylor is experienced and will slide into a tackle position. Darius Washington proved he’s serviceable at tackle, and Dontae Lucas should be improved over his freshman season as long as he’s healthy.

Brady Scott will see playing time, and there’s a battle at the center position between Baveon Johnson, Andrew Boselli, and Maurice Smith. Freshmen Robert Scott and Thomas Shrader could see playing time as true freshmen, which is never a great sign. Hopefully, other players that redshirted last season will emerge as the season unfolds.

I think this unit will be better than last year, and the synergy between Mike Norvell and Kenny Dillingham will do a better job of hiding their flaws with playcalling.

Confidence Ranking-6 (was 5.5 last year)
