Carter Boatwright

Boatwright has been getting a lot of buzz from his fellow players and the staff. He is Tate Rodemaker’s favorite target and has been called one of the best freshmen out there by other teammates. Due to the unfortunate Jordan Wilson injury, both he and Markeston Douglas are in positions to play earlier than expected.

I would say that before the injury, Douglas would have been a candidate for a redshirt as he is the more developmental prospect, but now, with how thin the tight end room has gotten, he will be a rotational piece.

Wilson was set to be tight end two and a significant blocking presence with some pass-catching upside, the next player I see that can fill that role is Boatwright. He early enrolled and got into Coach Storms’ strength and condition program and looks a little more filled out. Wyatt Rector looks sound in his new position as well but needs to develop more as a blocker, whereas Boatwright has more experience in the tight end position despite him being younger.
