Who becomes TE2 beside McDonald?

The injury to Jordan Wilson creates a massive gap. The tight-end-two role will have to be the leading blocker, and with Wilson’s injury, who can fill that position?

Rector still needs more work on blocking technique but could fill that role and seems to be getting better each day. Rector has also shown his stuff running routes and has been sound in his transition.

I anticipate a larger role for Carter Boatwright as well. This allows the Noles to see him after his work in the strength and conditioning program. To see what he can be and how he fills out. Despite Boatwright being a true freshman, he has more experience at the position than Rector, and I think he is more sound in his blocking fundamentals.

A similar situation to Boatwright is Markeston Douglas. He is a more raw talent than both Boatwright and Rector, but he has a bigger frame and isn’t afraid to get physical while keeping his strong route running upside. This situation is an important opportunity for walk-ons to make something happen, and they will be crucial depth in a shallow room.
