How Much Progress Can Be Made?

One of the biggest challenges the Noles will need to overcome is the 12 spring practices they missed once COVID-19 shut everything down.

Those are a significant number of reps missed in all three phases of the game. Not only are the reps important, but those reps allow players to learn how to communicate while on the field.

As we know, that was an issue under the last regime, with players often missing assignments or not knowing their role in plays.

Mike Norvell mentioned at Thursday’s press conference they were planning to use fall camp like a spring camp to try and make up some of that missed time.

How much progress can be made? The players have spent lots of hours on zoom calls going over the plays with mental reps, but there’s nothing to substitute for the real thing.

The good news is, the Noles have two games to start the season where they can continue to work out any kinks, and likely still be able to win the games. But make no mistake, we’ll probably see more hiccups than usual because of so much practice time missed.
