FSU football continues to be in the mix for several 2021 blue-chip targets. One they’d love to have is legacy safety recruit Corey Collier Jr.

FSU football already has one blue-chip legacy recruit committed for the 2021 recruiting cycle in linebacker Branden Jennings.

Could the Noles land another blue-chip legacy recruit in safety Corey Collier Jr.? He released his top six schools on May 20 and announced Friday evening he’d be announcing his commitment on August 10.

The Noles were among the final six along with Florida, Miami, Clemson, LSU, and Georgia.

He also added he would not be de-committing once he announces his decision:

Collier Jr. checks in at the No. 84 ranked player nationally, No. 3 safety and No. 14 ranked player in the state of Florida.

He’s listed at 6’2″ and 170 pounds with 36 offers from the likes of FSU, Florida, Miami, LSU, Georgia, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Mississippi State, Nebraska, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Oregon, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Tennessee, USC, Virginia, and lots of other schools.

FSU holds one 247 Crystal Ball Prediction made in June 2018. Collier Jr. attends Miami Palmetto High School, which is in the backyard of Miami. He’s been to both FSU, Florida, and Miami a number times.

However, Mike Norvell has yet to get Collier to visit since becoming head coach in December. Of course, he’s familiar with what FSU has to offer since his father played at FSU from 1999 to 2002.

It’s going to be interesting to see how this recruiting battle shakes out. That commitment date is less than a month away, and campus visits still can’t take place like usual. It would suck to lose a blue-chip legacy recruit to a rival school. However, FSU defensive quality control analyst and former Miami Hurricane Brandon Harris did tweet this a few days ago:

Next. 3 Teams We Want Added To 2020 FSU Schedule. dark

He’s from Miami and has lots of ties to the area. This could be much ado about nothing, but maybe it’s not? We’ll be finding out soon enough and hopefully some good news for the Noles.
