FSU football doesn’t have any defensive tackles in its 2021 recruiting class. One three-star target is high on the Noles.

FSU football helps itself big-time with the addition of defensive tackle Fabien Lovett from the transfer portal.

However, they are still in need of defensive tackle help since the only one they signed last recruiting cycle will be going the JUCO route.

The Noles have offered 23 defensive tackles in the 2021 class, and three-star defensive tackle Luther McCoy has listed the Noles in his top 10 list of schools.

He announced the list via his Twitter account Tuesday night:

He checks in at 6’4″ and 295 pounds and is considered the No. 1,193 ranked player nationally, No. 62 DT, and No.165 player in Florida according to 247 Sports.

McCoy holds offers from the likes of FSU, Baylor, Duke, South Carolina, Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Minnesota, Mississippi State, NC State, Nebraska, Penn State, Syracuse, Virginia, and some other smaller schools.

That’s a lot of Power Five offers for a player that’s ranked as low as McCoy. Mike Norvell and staff were able to get McCoy to visit one of their Junior Days in February and offered him while on the visit.

There are no 247 Crystal Ball Predictions for McCoy, but the Noles look to be in good shape being they were the last place he was able to visit in person. He’s an in-state product, and FSU is the only Florida program vying for his commitment right now.

They also have need at his position with a history of sending players to the NFL. McCoy seemed like a player who wasn’t in a rush to make a decision back in March, and it has taken him five-months to narrow his list down to 10 schools.

I’d imagine he’d want to try to visit more of these schools in person before making a decision. However, who knows what will happen with the pandemic going on. At the very least, he’s already visited FSU which is positive.
