FSU football: Top 3 June observations with Mike Norvell

Having A Plan For Voluntary Workouts
The coronavirus pandemic is something no college football coach has had to deal with in history so, at least they are all on an even playing field in that regard.
Mike Norvell and staff did the best they could with providing players with resources while they were working out at home.
The Noles only had three spring practices, so that’s a lot of time missed in terms of practice reps and installing the offense and offensive schemes.
That’s why it the players needed to get back to Tallahassee as soon as possible when the NCAA began to allow voluntary workouts in June. Mike Norvell and staff did a wonderful job of having a plan and executing it, with most of the players arriving in Tallahassee in late May.
They were all quarantined and tested, and the amount of positive cases has been minimal. It’s one thing for these players to work out on their own, but being able to workout with others in a top-notch facility is huge.
Also, the players getting back has allowed them to at least have some player-led practices that mostly consists of 7 on 7 type stuff. It’s better than nothing, and at least no days have been wasted.
It also gives the coaches a chance to see the players face-to-face to go over the playbook or other essential matters. A lot of programs have not been as organized, and it has cost them.
