FSU football looks to rebound in 2020, and a few key players could make the difference if they play to their potential.

FSU football hasn’t enjoyed the same success they once saw when they ran rough-shed over the ACC for years.

The Noles routinely placed several players on the All-ACC teams, and there would be arguments about who was snubbed.

All-Conference voting is a popularity contest, which means players on teams that go 5-7 and 6-7 often get lost in the shuffle.

I expect FSU football to rebound in 2020, and ESPN writer David Hale  and Eric MacLain have several Noles listed in their preseason projections:

FSU senior defensive tackle Marvin Wilson was the lone Noles to make All-ACC First Team last season.  Cam Akers, Tamorrion Terry, and Hamsah Nasirildeen made All-ACC Second Team.

As you can see, Hale’s projections have three FSU football players on the All-ACC First Team. He also has Asante Samuel Jr. on the second team with other players like Cory Durden and Jaiden Lars-Woodbey as players under consideration.

Other players like Jashaun Corbin, Khalan Laborn, Joshua Kaindoh, Emmett Rice, Robert Cooper, and Janarius Robinson could play their way onto the first, second, third, or honorable mentions.

I expect the program to be better organized, coupled with better coaching to pay dividends in 2020. That’s a ton of talent listed left off their projections. I think their projections are fair, but I’m just saying there’s a real opportunity for the Noles to make their presence felt on the All-ACC teams in the coming year.

The Noles used to place eight or nine players on the All-Conference teams. The drop off has coincided with the lack of Noles being selected in the NFL Draft too.

It all comes back to recruiting and developing that talent. Mike Norvell’s first-year will be a great indicator of what’s this staff is capable of with all the obstacles they’d had to overcome this offseason.
