FSU football news: Noles offer 2022 linebacker Jaishawn Barham
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU football coaches are still hard at work evaluating players in the 2022 recruiting cycle. Their latest offer is from Maryland at a huge position of need.
FSU football had made up a lot of ground on its 2022 recruiting board as the coaching staff has offered over 170 recruits thus far.
It’s one positive from the pandemic shutting down recruiting visits as it’s given the coaches time to evaluate more tape while beginning to form the relationships needed with the players they covet.
Their latest offer goes on the defensive side of the ball to a four-star linebacker Jaishawn Barham from Hyattville, Maryland.
He announced the offer via his Twitter account Saturday night:
Thoughts
He checks in at 6’3″ and 230 pounds and is considered the No. 40 ranked player nationally, No. 3 outside linebacker, and No. 2 player in Maryland according to 247 Sports.
Barham does not have a composite ranking at this time but holds 19 offers from the likes of FSU, Florida, Arizona State, Maryland, Michigan, Notre Dame, Nebraska, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Penn State, South Carolina, Texas A&M, Virginia, Virginia Tech, and others.
He has offers from almost all of the heavy hitters, especially the big-time programs that recruit the Maryland area hard aside from Alabama. That offer will likely come at some point.
Barham has great size and is already physically ready to play college football. The crazy thing is I would not be surprised if he grew into a defensive end as he has two more years of high school left.
He’d meet a need for FSU football whether he stays at linebacker or grows into a defensive end, so this is a good offer. There are no 247 Crystal Ball Predictions for him at this time, and Penn State is the only school he has visited as of this time.
The Noles offer is a bit late considering some of these schools offered him in January 2019. However, they’ve got time to make an impression, and as with everything in recruiting, we’ll have to see if they can get him on campus.
