Final Thoughts

Most of the improvement on special teams will come down to buy-in from the players and coaching.

It’s something Mike Norvell emphasized early on, so it’s something we would expect to see on the field in year one.

As I said, a lot of the mishaps were mental errors and bad decisions that plagued the Noles the past few years. Those mishaps can be cleared up with better coaching and communication of what to do in certain situations.

Accountability will come into play too. If a player isn’t doing his job like allowing punts to hit the ground, he should be pulled from the game instead of trotted back out there to allow that to happen over and over.

I didn’t get into punting and kicking of field goals. The Noles had questions there last year, and there are questions at those two positions going into the season.

However, if those two things are average, it would be an upgrade over last year. If that happens and the mental mistakes are taken care of?

I believe the defensive improvement coupled with improved special teams could help the Noles win more games in 2020.
