FSU football: Mike Norvell continuing to build relationships in Florida
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU football head coach Mike Norvell understands relationships will be huge in determining his success at FSU. That’s why he’s working to build them even during a pandemic.
FSU football head coach Mike Norvell has done a lot of work since being hired in early December. There’s been a great deal of organizing the program and restructuring things the way he wants.
He has hired people in new roles within the program, but probably the thing he’s focused the most on is building relationships.
That’s relationships on campus, with recruits, and more importantly, the high school coaches in the state.
Norvell not having a lot of Florida ties was one of the biggest concerns for FSU football fans when he was hired. Could he have success having never coached at a Power Five school with no real ties to players and coaches in the state?
The coronavirus threw everyone a major curveball by shutting everything down the past few months. However, Mike Norvell hit the ground running by getting a ton of players on campus and going to the coaches in the state by having several meet and greets.
Even though the pandemic has slowed a lot of things down, it’s good to see Mike Norvell is still actively seeking to build those relationships with not only players but coaches as well.
Coach Cribeiro is the head coach at Barbara Goleman Sr. High School in Miami Lakes, Florida. The lack of ties to south Florida was a concern for this staff, but Mike Norvell is finding time along with other members of the coaching staff to make those important connections. It’s paying off too as 27 percent of the 2022 recruiting offers that have gone out are players from Florida.
Cribeiro is a University of Miami graduate, so it’s cool to see him shout out Coach Norvell on Twitter and wish the Noles good luck!
