FSU football is looking for playmakers on both sides of the ball. A blue-chip wide receiver and top 50 player has the Noles in his top six list of schools.

FSU football coaches are looking to add the best players possible to get the program back to where it’s supposed to be.

They have seven commitments and have sent out over 275 scholarship offers for the 2021 recruiting cycle.

The Noles have made the top lists for several wide receivers in the 2021 recruiting cycle. The latest is a top 50 player nationally in Dont’e Thornton.

He announced his top six schools Saturday afternoon:

Thornton hails from Baltimore, Maryland, and has 27 offers from the likes of FSU, Oregon, Penn State, Maryland, Notre Dame, USC, Arizona State, Virginia, Auburn, Florida, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Ohio State, Tennessee, West Virginia, and a host of other schools.

He checks in at 6’4.5″ and 185 pounds and is considered the No. 47 ranked player nationally, No. 6 wide receiver and the No. 1 player in the state of Maryland.

Thoughts on his recruitment

It’s an interesting list of final schools considering his list of offers. Penn State and Oregon have three votes in the 247 Sports Crystal Ball Predictions contest. However, it should be noted the predictions for Oregon are much more recent as it looks as though he could be trending that way for now as he was once committed to Penn State.

The good news for the Noles is they made the list and were the last school on the list to offer him. Thornton doesn’t plan on announcing his commitment until January, which would be after the Early Signing Period.

It’ll be huge if the Noles can get him to visit campus once things open back up. FSU is a heck of a lot closer than Oregon, and he could be prolific in Mike Norvell’s offense. He’s got great size would be a huge red zone threat immediately.
