FSU football continues to search for the right players in its 2021 recruiting class. The latest offer goes to an offensive tackle.

FSU football fans understand the need for offensive tackles in its recruiting classes. It’s been a position of need for years now, and the coaching staff has been targeting them heavily.

The Noles have sent out 36 offers to offensive linemen for this recruiting cycle, and 25 of those offers have gone to offensive tackles.

The latest offer goes to Rod Orr, who hails from Gadsden City High School in Alabama. He’s a player the Noles have been developing a relationship with for a bit now.

He announced his offer via his Twitter account Saturday:

Orr checks in at 6’7″ and 296 pounds and currently has 12 offers from schools like FSU, Minnesota, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Oregon, Missouri, Kansas, Syracuse, Tennessee, and some other schools not in the Power Five.

Thoughts

I think it’s a good offer from the Noles at this point. They likely are not going to get any of the top-rated offensive tackles out there.

However, Orr is a player with a big upside that can be developed, which is what Coach Alex Atkins is known for.

The program isn’t in a position to compete with other schools at this point. FSU offensive line coach Alex Atkins has a good reputation, but the Noles not being able to host campus visits or play games yet has significantly hampered their ability to develop relationships, so much that players want to commit at a high rate.

It’s why they’ve only been able to lock down five commits in the 2021 recruiting cycle.

They can offer immediate playing time, but most offensive linemen are not ready to play as true freshmen so that hampers things as well.
