Devonta Freeman will always be known as the no-star running back Jimbo Fisher saw and offered who came to FSU and became the first 1,000-yard rusher in over a decade.
Freeman’s career coincided with the resurgence of FSU football while sharing carries with Wilder Jr. and Williams.
However, he was the featured back on that 2013 FSU title team, averaging 5.9 yards per carry his final two seasons as a Noles.
He ultimately amassed 2,730 yards from scrimmage with 31 touchdowns while averaging 6.1 yards per play. Freeman went on to be drafted in the fourth round of the 2014 NFL Draft by the Atlanta Falcons.
He helped lead them to a Super Bowl that they would have won had they given the ball to him in the second half instead of being pass-happy. He was named to the NFL’s Top 100 players list twice and signed a deal to become the highest-paid running back in the league in 2017.
Freeman has battled injuries the last couple of seasons and is currently a free agent after being released by the Falcons in March.
