FSU football: ESPN’s FPI favors the Noles in eight games in 2020
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU football is looking to rebound in 2020 after three consecutive years of mediocrity. ESPN favors the Noles to bounce back.
FSU football has a lot of talent and experience returning in 2020 and ESPN’s FPI projections believe the Noles will find success in Mike Norvell’s first season. They had the biggest jump in FPI’s rankings.
Some questions are remaining at some key positions, but the defense returns important pieces at every level, including arguably one of the best defensive lines in college football.
The secondary returns a ton of talent, and the linebacker unit is poised to continue its level of play over the past few years.
The biggest questions continue to revolve around the offensive line, quarterback and running back positions, though the coaching staff has addressed the latter with several options.
FSU will be implementing a new offense and defense, but the players should be familiar with a large part of the concepts for the most part. However, being able to make up the 12 spring practices they missed will be huge in determining how well they can pick things up.

Thoughts
Of course, we’re dealing with percentages here and things like injuries can throw a monkey wrench into things quickly.
However, the FPI only has FSU as clear underdogs in three games (Clemson, Louisville, and Florida) with the Boise State game being a toss-up.
That projecting eight wins for the Noles, and it’s crazy to say, but most FSU fans would take that in year one of Mike Norvell. Especially, if one of those wins was beating Miami as the projection suggests.
