FSU football: Can Noles flip Baylor safety commit?
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU football has been looking for secondary help in the 2021 recruiting class and one new target is Baylor commit Cisco Caston.
FSU football could lose a few members of its secondary after the 2020 season is complete. The Noles only took two safeties in the 2020 recruiting cycle and will be in the mix to add a couple in 2021.
They’ve offered 20 safety recruits from the 2021 recruiting cycle, and Thursday, the coaching staff extended an offer to recent Baylor commit Cisco Caston.
Caston hails from Weatherford, Texas, and is considered the No. 569 player nationally, No. 37 ranked safety, and the No. 74 player in the state of Texas.
He holds 17 offers from the likes of Baylor, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia Tech, Miami, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Texas A&M, Texas Tech and others.
He committed to the Baylor Bears on March 4th after visiting there shortly before the coronavirus shut everything down. The only other documented campus visit he’s had is to Texas A&M after he committed to Baylor.
A visit to another school so quickly after committing likely says he’s open to looking at other schools, which bodes well for FSU football moving forward.
The good news is, FSU has a standout player from Texas on its roster in Marvin Wilson, who’ll likely be a first-round draft pick next year.
Caston has an excellent frame at 6’2″ and nearly 200 pounds with the length you covet in a defensive back. He also runs the 200 meter, relays, and long jump in high school, which tells me he’s an athlete with a lot of solid attributes. If you’ll recall, Jalen Ramsey was a long jumper at FSU and won the ACC Long Jump Championship in 2015.
FSU just had a former Baylor player to commit to the Noles in defensive end Deonte Williams. Could the Noles go two for two against the Bears?
