How They Can Make Up Ground

FSU football has done a good job of contacting recruits via video, text, and social media. One thing they’ve been offering is virtual campus tours.

A virtual visit can’t replace an actual visit, but it does give the player a glimpse into what FSU football is all about and gives the player more incentive to visit once things get back to normal.

That’s the key to this dead period, establishing those relationships now so players will be interested in visiting at a later date.

The other way FSU can make up ground is by being relentless on the recruiting trails. Some programs may relax and take their foot off the gas with certain players. Some may get bored with the monotonous day-to-day or texting and video calls during the dead period.

This is what could separate FSU football from those programs. My grandpops used to say, “A cracked door ain’t hard to open.” Recruits can be fickle, and once a program stops showing them the same amount of attention, they’ll begin to look elsewhere.
