Former FSU standout safety Derwin James is still knocking guys out in the off-season. Do you think you can beat him on the Madden video game?

Derwi James is already one of the best safeties in the NFL after just two seasons but as always talked about is video game prowess.

Could he be even better off the field?

Lots of people are turning to video games to pass time during this coronavirus pandemic. James took to the sticks to prove his Madden prowess as he participated in Checkdown Madden20 Tournament held this week.

It comes as no surprise he was crowned champion by blowing out Kansas City Chief’s Tyreek Hill by 49 points (52-3) in the finals.

The crazy thing is he promised a little kid he’d score 50 points before the game ever took place.

James defeated Keenan Allen 14-6 and Desean Jackson 50-27 to reach the finals to take on Hill. That’s 50 points in the semifinals and finals.

The games were streamed live on Twitch.TV and the top five plays from James can be seen here:

The question of the day is, can anyone beat Derwin James at Madden? Former FSU teammate and best friend Jalen Ramsey said he’s never seen him lose a Madden Tournament? Others don’t think he can be beaten either.

The Madden video games have far surpassed my technical abilities when it comes to video games. If you think you have what it takes, James is taking on all challengers while we’re all home waiting for this coronavirus pandemic to end.

The Madden Tournament was more than NFL players passing time during this pandemic. The tournament was used to raise money for COVID-19 relief. James is the second former FSU player in as many days to contribute money to help fight the pandemic.

Dalvin Cook donated his Madden check to provide PPE supplies to medical workers in Minnesota a couple of days ago.
