Dalvin Cook donates money to aid in fight against COVID-19
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU football standout running back Dalvin Cook continues to be a star on and off the field for the Minnesota Vikings. Cook donates money to help battle COVID-19.
Dalvin Cook enjoyed his most productive NFL season in 2019, making his first Pro Bowl while crossing the 1,000 rushing yards mark for the first time after two seasons dealing with injuries.
He accounted for 13 rushing touchdowns and had five games with over 100 rushing yards.
Not only that, Cook was also a huge part of the Viking passing attack, hauling in 53 receptions for 519 yards.
Cook helped the Vikings upset the New Orleans Saints 26-20 in the first round of the NFL Playoffs, tallying two rushing touchdowns and 94 rushing yards on 28 rushing attempts. He also had three receptions for 36 yards.
Cook has been involved in a variety of Minnesota charities since being drafted by the Vikings in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft.
Most notably, the Viking Table Food truck aims to provide healthy meals for youth in the Minnesota area.
It comes as no surprise Cook is looking to help the Minnesota community during the coronavirus pandemic.
There are shortages of personal protective equipment (PPE) for medical staff across the nation working to fight this pandemic. Cook took upon himself to help:
That amount usually totals between $55,000-$65,000 according to NFLPA president Eric Winston. Not only that, but Cook’s gesture inspired others to join in the fight as well:
Thoughts
It’s a great gesture by the two players that will hopefully influence players from other teams to donate and help their communities. Minnesota currently has 742 coronavirus cases, with 22,394 completed coronavirus tests complete.
These two donations alone should be able to help thousands of medical workers in the Minnesota community.
Thanks to Dalvin Cook for leading by example and representing FSU football with nothing but class.
