FSU football is looking to replenish its talent in the trenches once Marvin Wilson and others head to the NFL. Victory Vaka would be a great step in that direction.

FSU football could lose both Marvin Wilson and Cory Durden to the NFL Draft next year. The Noles have Robert Cooper returning with one more year of eligibility after 2020.

They landed four-star defensive tackle Emanuel Rogers in the 2020 recruiting cycle.

FSU has yet to land any defensive tackles in the 2021 recruiting cycle, and it’s an area I’ve been pointing to for a while now that needs to be addressed.

Four-star defensive tackle Victory Vaka announced his top five schools Saturday night and the Noles were listed:

Vaka hails from Westlake Village, California, and holds 17 offers from likes of FSU, Oregon, Texas A&M, Florida, Oregon, Michigan, LSU, Tennessee, Arizona, Vanderbilt, Mississippi State, and others.

He’s considered the No. 200 player nationally and No. 13 defensive tackle in the nation and the No. 20 ranked player in California

He’s 6’3″ 325 pounds with zero in-state schools in his top five, so I think it’s safe to say there’s a good chance he’s willing to leave California.

FSU football offered on February 18th, and Vaka has stated he plans to commit and sign during the Early Signing Period on December 16th. He’ll be an early enrollee with whoever he signs with.

Vaka told Unconquered Talk he’s a fan of FSU defensive tackle Marvin Wilson and likes how he plays. It looks like Odell Haggins and Mike Norvell are big reasons why he’s interested in the Noles along with their history of sending defensive linemen to the NFL.

Vaka has visits scheduled for the other four teams that are in his top five. He’s visiting Florida in April, Michigan in June, Oregon in September and Texas A&M in November according to 247 Sports.

That Florida visit could be affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.  It’ll be interesting to see when he sets up a visit with FSU football and would be a huge get for Mike Norvell in this recruiting class.
