Final Thoughts

It’s easy to say Stanford Samuels III made a mistake by leaving FSU football early to declare for the NFL Draft with his disappointing 40 times.

However, there are two things he really can’t change too much. One is his 40 time, it’s not like he’d get two-tenths of a second faster if he came back for his senior year.

The other is he can’t turn back the clock on his age. The quicker he can get drafted or sign as an undrafted free agent, the quicker he can start getting paid to play.

He’s not going to get paid to come back his senior season to play for a new coach and new defensive coordinator that didn’t recruit him.

He made the decision he felt was best for him and has a father that took a similar route after playing at FSU. I will say it’s disappointing to see his 40 times reflect what people think of the ‘Noles program right now.

It seems unreal to think a player could play and start at FSU as a defensive back and run a 4.65 and 4.71 forty. However, it’s not like he wasn’t one of the highest-rated players coming out of high school.

Is it a reflection of the lack of attention to detail in the strength and conditioning program the past few years? I won’t pin it directly on that, but I’m sure it didn’t help things either.
