Camren McDonald

FSU football will enter the 2020 season with relatively no game experience at the tight end position with Tre McKitty transferring to Georgia.

That leaves former four-star Camren McDonald to assume that role after appearing in all 13 games last season.

He was the No. 290 ranked player overall, No. 15 tight end and No. 39 ranked player in California coming out of high school.

The blue-chip recruit was credited with six receptions for 43 yards in his sophomore season, which is a significant decrease from McKitty’s 23 receptions and 249 yards.

One reason McDonald didn’t see more playing time at tight end was he needed to develop more as a blocker in the run game.

That will be something he needs to continue to develop in Mike Norvell’s offense, although he’ll have an opportunity to excel more as a pass-catcher too.

He’s incredibly explosive for a tight end and should be able to make explosive plays when targeted.
