Dennis Briggs Jr.

The defensive line didn’t live up to the hype last season and was hampered by injuries somewhat.

One player that got a bit of action in limited quantities was four-star defensive tackle Dennis Briggs Jr. He came to FSU in the 2018 class as the No. 324 player overall, No. 25 ranked defensive tackle and No. 57 ranked player in Florida

Briggs is listed at 6’4 and 268 pounds, that’s about 18 pounds heavier than his listed weight as a high school recruit.

He showed some flashes in 2019 with 28 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, one sack, one fumble forced and two QB hurries while playing in all 13 games.

He would have likely had to step into a starting position had Marvin Wilson and Cory Durden not returned for the 2020 season. Their return will allow him to get experience while not having to carry too much of the load while being relatively inexperienced.

However, he’ll still be needed for more depth purposes and hopefully not have too much of a drop-off in play when the starters are out.
