Memphis Third Down Stats in 2019

Memphis had 194 third downs(19.5 percent of total plays) and converted for the first down 46.1 percent of the time. If we break that down further, 103 of those third downs (53 percent) had a distance of seven yards or more to convert for the first down.

When passing, Memphis converted 3rd and 7-9 yards 47 percent of the time averaging 12.1 ypp and completing 56 percent of its passes.

If the distance was 3rd and 10+, Memphis converted 33 percent of the time, averaging 10.9 ypp and completing 58 percent of its passes.

If the distance was 3rd and 7-9, the Tigers ran the ball 9 times and converted the first down three times. When the distance was 3rd and 10+ Memphis ran the ball 17 times and converted the first down twice.

That’s 26 rushes on 3rd and 7+ with five first-down conversions. If the distance was 3rd down 1-6, the Memphis rushed 50 times and converted the first down 30 times (60 percent).

If the distance was 3rd down 1-6, the Tigers passed 41 times and converted the first down 20 times (42 percent).
