Impact Player

FSU football hasn’t signed many impact players in the last couple of recruiting cycles. They signed one player (Demorie Tate at No. 38) who was ranked inside the top 50 in 2020.

The 2019 recruiting cycle saw them sign one player (Akeem Dent at No. 50)  inside the top 50.

Dent has a decent true freshman campaign that would have been excellent had he been able to haul in several passes that he should have intercepted.

It’s expected Demorie Tate will compete for playing time as a true freshman. Both players are defensive backs where FSU hasn’t had problems signing blue-chip players.

The linebacker position has been quite the opposite over the years. FSU football hasn’t signed a linebacker ranked inside the overall top 100 since Dontavious Jackson at No. 92 in the 2016 recruiting cycle.

Jennings checks in at 6’3 220 pounds  and will be physically ready to play as a true freshman which hasn’t been the case in the past. Jackson didn’t consistently see the field until his junior season.

Jennings has a chance to make his presence felt early and often and can be a difference-maker.
