Wake Forest

Wake Forest is a team that finished one place ahead of FSU football in the final SP+ standings. They don’t have near the talent overall, but rarely beat themselves with last year’s game being a prime example.

The Noles will enter 2020 as the more talented team when they face Wake Forest. Another positive is this game will be at home in front of the Nole faithful.

The downside is this game is sandwiched between a Clemson team that FSU will likely lose to, and a road game against an improving Louisville team the following week.

One thing FSU can’t allow is for a loss against Clemson to turn into another loss the following week against Wake Forest.

FSU losing back-to-back games would be a recipe for disaster with having to travel to Louisville. Wake Forest isn’t going to beat themselves as they were one of the least penalized teams (57 penalties) in the nation.

They also did a solid job of avoiding turnovers as they only had 17 all year. I think better coaching coupled with the more talented team should equate to a win, but we’ve seen crazier things happen.
