FSU football filled a big time need Saturday evening when JUCO running back La’Damian Webb announced his commitment to the Noles.

FSU football will go into the 2020 season with more college football experience at the running back position now.

The commitment of La’Damian Webb will give the Noles four scholarship running backs on the roster who have played in a college football game.

That was a huge question for the Noles once Cam Akers declared for the NFL Draft a last month. Khalan Laborn has questions and Anthony Grant was missing in action most of 2019.

Transfer Jashaun Corbin is recovering from an injury that cost him most of 2019 and Lawrance Toafili will be a true freshman.

Thoughts

This is a nice get for the Noles and Coach Mike Norvell. Webb has been a player they’ve been working on for some time and a lot of people thought he might commit while visiting this weekend.

It’s great to see that happen too as it gives credence to the coaching staff being able to close on a guy they really want. Webb is originally from Alabama and was named Mr. Football in that state as a JUNIOR running back.

He ultimately signed with Mississippi State as a three-star recruit before going the JUCO route where he rushed for 940 yards on just 156 attempts with 10 touchdowns.

He’ll sign with the Noles in February and arrive in the summer to compete for a starting spot this fall with three years of eligibility left.
