FSU football: 3 things Noles need to be elite again
By Kelvin Hunt
Strength and Conditioning
This is a biggie. I was that game Monday night and there is a clear difference in the strength and conditioning program at Clemson and LSU compared to what FSU has had the past few years.
Florida State Seminoles Football
In fact, I can remember talking about Clemson’s lack of S&C and how FSU just wore them down in the second half of that 2012 game.
Those two teams play with a physicality unknown to most FSU football players. Now, FSU has a FEW players that know what it means to play with physicality.
However, generally speaking the Noles have a lot of work to do in this area. The offensive and defensive lines need major work here.
FSU’s linebackers and defensive backs need to add more size and strength. The way those players shed blocks or played man coverage on the outside was eye-opening on both sides.
Both teams were massive in the trenches, and well, you saw the difference when FSU played Clemson a few months ago.
The FSU offensive line couldn’t block anyone and the FSU defensive line couldn’t generate any pressure.
New Director of Strength and Conditioning coach Josh Storms and staff have a lot of work to do in this area and I’m confident they’ll get the job done.
