FSU football officially ended its 2019 season with a loss in ugly fashion. Here are my quick thoughts from the Sun Bowl.

FSU football (6-7) has finished under .500 for the second consecutive year with a 20-14 loss to Arizona State in the Sun Bowl.

First of all, I’m so glad that’s the last time we’ll see a Kendal Briles offense in Tallahassee. I have no idea what he was doing like 75 percent of the game.

He called a slant route with the ball on the one yard line and didn’t call a slant route hardly the rest of the game.

His playcalling left a lot to be desired as usual and he can have fun in Arkansas next year as this FSU offense regressed tremendously throughout the year.

Secondly, Mike Norvell needs to find a quarterback as there isn’t one on the roster going into 2020. He does have Tate Rodemaker enrolling early and maybe he will look towards the graduate transfer market to fill in the gap?

The other thing is he needs to find about seven offensive linemen from somewhere because there are not many capable ones on the roster going into 2020.

It also sucks one of its best offensive linemen Dontae Lucas suffered what looked like a broken ankle/leg in the game and will take months to recover.

The FSU defense played inspired football, but it’s hard to judge just how well they played since Arizona State was playing without two of its best offensive players. I will note Emmett Rice had a heck of a game at linebacker and Cory Durden and Asante Samuel Jr. had a strong game too.

The FSU offense had six turnovers with two happening inside the red zone and one of them being a pick six interception which ultimately was the difference in the game.

James Blackman threw four interceptions and there’s no way he can play quarterback at FSU next season.

Tamorrion Terry had a big game with nine receptions for 165 yards and a touchdown. However, it sucked the game ended with him fumbling the ball away with the Noles on the move with an opportunity to score.

However, he’ll have something to remember and work towards for 2020. The Willie Taggart era is officially over and now it’s time to turn our attention to National Signing Day and spring ball shortly after that.
