Corey Durden will return as the most experienced defensive tackle on the roster in 2020. He’s played in 24 games over the past two years and the only other player with considerable experience is sophomore Robert Cooper.

After Cooper and Durden the experience drops off a cliff. Here’s a list of players that played this year who should be returning in 2020:

  • Robert Cooper-12 games, 37 tackles, 4 TFL’s
  • Dennis Briggs Jr.-12 games, 28 tackles, 3.5 TFL’s
  • Tru Thompson-11 games, 11 tackles, two TFL’s
  • Cedric Wood-nine games, 27 tackles, one TFL

That’s not including players from the 2019 recruiting cycle like Quashon Fuller who didn’t register a tackle and will likely redshirt this season, or Malcolm Lamar who had already entered the transfer portal.

When looking at that experience returning you can see just how big Durden returning will be for that unit.
