No. 4 FSU vs. No. 11 Ole Miss 2016

45. 804. Final. 31. 841

FSU football began the season top five with a lot of hype surrounding junior running back Dalvin Cook and redshirt freshman Deondre Francois.

Ironically, Francois’s first game was arguably his best game in the garnet and gold.

They were -4 point favorites on a neutral field taking on SEC foe Ole Miss who was ranked No. 11 in the nation.

The early part of the game saw the Ole Miss offense blitz Charles Kelly’s defense with ease, putting up 28 points in the first half.

It was only a huge play for Francois and Travis Rudolph just before the half to keep the Noles in striking distance.

The second half was a different story for the FSU defense as they forced turnovers on the first three possessions for Ole Miss in the second half.

FSU’s offense was cooking with gas as they scored touchdowns off each turnover to take a one point lead early in the third quarter.

Francois finished the game 33 of 52 for 419 yards and two touchdowns. He also added 59 rushing yards on nine carries. Bobo Wilson and Dalvin Cook had over 100 receiving yards and DeMarcus Walker wreaked havoc on defense with 4.5 sacks of Ole Miss QB Chad Kelly.

This game really should have been foreshadowing of things to come regarding FSU’s pass blocking woes.
