No. 23 FSU vs. No. 20 South Carolina Peach Bowl 2010

26. 804. Final. 17. 850

This is more about what the win meant as this win represented an amazing accomplishment for FSU football. It was its second consecutive win over an SEC opponent(defeated Florida in previous game).

The Noles went into the game as two point underdogs on a neutral field with South Carolina featuring NCAA Freshman of the Year running back Marcus Lattimore and standout wide receiver Ashon Jeffery.

FSU’s sophomore cornerback Greg Reid delivered a crushing blow to Lattimore early in the game on a crucial third down play as the Gamecocks were knocking on the door of the red zone.

The hit caused a fumble and South Carolina never seemed to recover.

FSU lost QB Christian Ponder to injury and EJ Manuel gave a glimpse of the future from a dual threat perspective.

However, it was running back Chris Thompson’s performance of 147 yards on 25 carries and one touchdown stood out along side of FSU’s defense forcing five turnovers.

The win announced the Noles were truly on the way back to prominence as the win marked FSU’s first 10 wins season since 2003.
