No. 19 FSU basketball needed all 40 minutes in its comeback win over South Florida. FSU fans reacted to the ugly win for the Noles.

FSU basketball (10-2) couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn for most of the game against South Florida.

They were constantly launching three-pointer after three-pointer and getting crushed on the boards but eventually found a way to win 66-60 in the Orange Bowl Classic.

They were down by as many as 13 points in the first half before closing the gap to a 31-28 deficit at halftime. The second half saw a close game with FSU finally tying the game 47-47.

However, it looked as though USF was going to put the Noles away with a late 10-0 run to take a 57-47 lead with 6:13 remaining.

However, the Noles finished on a 19-3 run to pull out the win. FSU was led by Raiquan Gray, Trent Forrest, M.J. Walker and Anthony Polite with 11 points a piece.

The Noles shot just 40 percent from the floor and were 7-27 from beyond the arc while making 15 of 19 free throws.

South Florida shot 43 percent from the floor on 3 of 15 from beyond the arc and 9 of 15 from the free throw line.

Final Thoughts

It’s great to see the Noles overcome an awful shooting afternoon while getting down double digits late to pull out a win. However, there’s no reason FSU basketball should ever get out-rebounded by 14 against USF.

I’d like to see them take the ball to the basket more instead of settling for so many three-point attempts when they’re making 10 percent of those shots.

The Bulls had an eight rebound advantage on the offensive glass too. FSU will have a week off before returning to action next Saturday as they host North Alabama in the final tune-up game before entering ACC Conference play.
