FSU basketball: Fans react to ‘Noles ugly loss against Indiana
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU basketball simply got outplayed by a Indiana team that hadn’t beaten anyone all season. Fans react to the ugly loss.
FSU basketball (7-2) saw its seven game win streak come to a screeching halt Tuesday night with a 80-64 loss against the Indiana Hoosiers.
The Noles started off with promise, jumping out to a 11-4 lead in the first four minutes of the game only to see Indiana go on a 12-0 run and never look back.
They led 41-30 at halftime with the Noles trimming the lead down to three points midway through the second half.
However, that’s as close as they would come as Indiana made a living at the free throw line down the stretch. The Hoosiers were 23 of 38 compared to just 7 of 16 from the charity stripe.
The biggest factor in the game was the guys in stripes as they certainly had a penchant for blowing their whistles in favor of Indiana. Some of that was FSU basketball settling for jump shots and not being aggressive, but they shot more than double the amount of free throws.
In fact, they made 16 more free throws than the Noles and what was the margin of victory? You guessed it, 16 points.
Oh, and Leonard Hamilton got a technical foul called for nothing pretty much.
Fan Reaction
I said this barely a few minutes into the game, just reinterating what I had said going into the game.
I’m telling you it never fails for FSU basketball to play well and folk whine and complain for them to get recognition only to watch them fall flat on their face in their next outing.
I didn’t expect them to win this game despite Indiana playing absolutely nobody in their first seven games. It’s certainly hard to beat anyone if you allow them to shoot 56 percent from the floor and 47 percent from three-point land while going to the free throw line 38 times.
The Noles actually shot better than they have been of late and only turned the ball over 14 times. The problem was they just couldn’t get defensive stops and lost the battle on the boards while struggling to make free throws.
It just wasn’t their night and will have the rest of the week to prepare for Clemson coming to Tallahassee Saturday at 2 p.m. ET.
