Recruiting

The NCAA ruled David Kelly couldn’t coach this year after coaching wide receivers in 2018. Willie Taggart moved him to a familiar role as Recruiting Coordinator this year since that’s the capacity he served at in previous stops.

A lot of folk want to dismiss Kelly just because of FSU’s recruiting ranking this year. I have to say it’s ridiculous to do that considering they went 5-7 last season.

Heck, FSU had a higher ranked recruiting class than both Florida and Miami prior to the season beginning. I think FSU had a much more focused recruiting game plan with Kelly as coordinator this year.

They didn’t spend a ton of time chasing players that didn’t have a realistic shot at landing and did a good job of evaluating talent.

They spent almost all of their time winning the state of Florida and tapping into parts of Georgia for some quality players.

Since the loss to Miami and Taggart getting fired, I suppose commits and recruits are simply waiting to see who the new hire is going to be.

That meant having a recruiting coordinator was expendable to a degree, so the move was made to put Edwards Sr. on the field.
