FSU football: 3 observations from Alabama State game
By Kelvin Hunt
The Offense Overall
I wrote earlier in the week there’s a good chance FSU’s offensive output against Boston College was a mirage.

It looks like I could be right and the game against Florida will likely show this offense didn’t miraculously get better when Willie Taggart was fired in early November.
The biggest difference is FSU has played two of the worst defenses in the country the last two weeks.
Even still, they’ve only averaged 40 points per game(the only only scored 42 points against Alabama State because of a defensive touchdown). I still want to give Kendal Briles the benefit of the doubt because of the situation he inherited.
There’s no question the offense is much better than last year, but could it ever become good enough to beat elite defenses?
We’ve seen it work in the BIG 12 where defenses are non-existent, but can it really work in the ACC?
I know one thing that doesn’t work in his offense and it’s that trash screen pass to the boundary. I said weeks ago on Twitter to trash that play and we’re still calling it and it’s still not working.
I’m willing to give Briles a shot at getting a QB he legitimately wants in the offense before I fully dismiss him, but I thought the Noles would have hung 60+ points against a team like Alabama State after seeing what he’s done at previous stops.
Saturday’s offensive performance left a lot to be desired to say the least as they had four drives that were three and out.
