FSU Baseball is going to face a slate of games that has plenty of teams that were in the postseason last year during the 2020 slate of opponents.

For the last 42 seasons, the FSU baseball team may not have won a national title – the one bad part on the legacy of long time head coach Mike Martin Sr., who retired after last season – but it was without a doubt the most consistent team in all of college baseball, with nothing more evidence of that being last season.

With their backs against the wall and entering the postseason as a No. 3 seed in the Athens, Georgia regional, Martin led the Seminoles through a dog stomping of both the host Georgia Bulldogs and the FAU Owls before taking care of business over LSU in the Super Regional round – ending the season yet again in Omaha.

In 2020, it’s going to be Mike Martin leading the Noles again – this time being Jr. in charge of the FSU baseball team for the time being. While the Seminoles have been known to play a tough slate of games year after year, the man they call “Meat” is going to face a tough road if he wants to continue the streak of 40+ wins that went on even before his dad’s 40 seasons in charge.

The schedule was released this week – one that will see trips early in the season that include both the Owls as well as Texas Tech, the team that ended the 2019 season for the Seminoles with a loss in the College World Series.

The Seminoles, after their first four games of the season, will play 16 of their next 17 games against teams that made it to the NCAA tournament last season – all before ACC games against Georgia Tech, Louisville, Miami and N.C. State…four teams that made it to the tournament, including the Cardinals and their run to Omaha.

FSU Baseball gets to host the rival Hurricanes this season, but still has the typical games against rival Florida with one being in both team’s home stadiums and one in Jacksonville. Home conference series see former Seminoles star Link Jarrett bring Notre Dame to town with road series at Pitt, Boston College and Clemson to end the season.

Martin Jr. hopes to have a lovely start to the season with a Valentine’s Day opener against Niagara – with the home season coming to an end on Cinco de Mayo – May 5th – against Jacksonville before a road game against Stetson and the season finale series against the Tigers.
