FSU football hasn’t fared well in recent years against Clemson. I look at three disturbing in-game trends against the Tigers.

FSU football hasn’t beaten the Clemson Tigers since the 2014 season with Sean Maguire lead the Noles to a victory as Jameis Winston was in street clothes on the sidelines.

That’s a long time ago folks, but the 2015 and 2016 games between the two programs were extremely close with FSU having a chance to win both of them.

In fact, FSU would have won the 2016 game if not for a bogus phantom call by the guys in stripes.

Nevertheless, the 2017 and 2018 games were absolute train wrecks. True freshman James Blackman led the Noles against the Tigers in Death Valley in 2017.

FSU actually made it a one score game late in the fourth quarter, but the game really wasn’t that close as FSU was lucky to not be down 28-0 at halftime.

The 2018 game was 0-0 after one-quarter before Clemson opened up a can on the Noles through the next two quarters.

All the all, the biggest difference between the two programs over the past four games has been quarterback play.

Clemson has had arguably their two best QB in their program’s history over most of that period and FSU has had either mediocre QB play or a true freshman.

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out how that’s going to go most of the time. However, other than QB play there are some other things that have been huge factors I was to discuss.

Here are three disturbing in-game trends I’ve noticed against Clemson over the past two years.
