Jalen Ramsey is still a member of a Jacksonville Jaguars team that he has said for weeks that he wants to be traded from but the team still won’t move on it.

It’s like a soap opera that won’t come to an end any time soon – the weekly saga of “As the Jalen Ramsey Turns” continues this week in Duval County as the star defensive back for the Jacksonville Jaguars missed practice for everything from the flu to a bad back to the birth of his second child back in his home state of Tennessee.

All of that would sound just like a crazy week if not for the fact that it comes just weeks after the former FSU football star said that he wanted to be traded from the team that drafted him in the top five of the NFL Draft back in 2016 – quite the departure from a player who seemed more than happy to be in Duval County just last season.

The fact of the matter is that no matter how this ends up – whether Jalen Ramsey does get his wish or whether or not the team decides to hold on to him – this is not going to be a good look for the Jags.

If Jacksonville follows through with what seems to be their plan of keeping him on the roster, you are essentially holding him hostage and not giving off the best of looks for any future free agent. I get why you wouldn’t want to trade one of the best DBs in the league,  but there comes a time where you just need to cut bait.

If you do decide to follow through the wishes of Jalen Ramsey, you’re going to be killed by those who think it would be crazy to trade or release one of the best DBs in the league and also be killed by the old timers who have been critical any time a player has the courage to stand up to his team.

Let us all be honest with each other: the Jags have done nothing to advance from the team that was one quarter from the Super Bowl just two seasons ago. The downhill slide from last season has continued in 2019 – further amplified by the injury to big time free agent QB signee Nick Foles, who will be out for most of this season now.

There comes a time where both the Jags and Ramsey have to be happy – and that’s only going to come when he is no longer a member of the franchise.
