FSU Alums: Why Jalen Ramsey should consider playing for Miami Dolphins
By Jason Parker
Jalen Ramsey has been one of the most talked about names in the NFL in recent weeks – and though he wants to win, he needs to think about the long term.
If you’ve been living under a rock for the past two weeks, you might not know that Jacksonville Jaguars defensive back Jalen Ramsey – arguably one of the best to play for FSU football this past decade – is no longer happy with playing in North Florida and would love to find a new spot to play professional football as soon as possible.
It’s news that came to life after the Jaguars lost last weekend to the Houston Texans and did not die down all that much even after Jacksonville got a 20-7 win this past Thursday against the Tennessee Titans – with Ramsey being very adamant about wanting to win a championship just like he did in 2013 for the Seminoles.
Remembering that the Jaguars were within one quarter of the Super Bowl just two years ago, I would like Jalen Ramsey to consider all his options – with teams like the Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens (God, don’t tempt me) being mentioned – and think outside of the box on this one.

You ready? Here it goes…the Miami Dolphins! No, seriously.
Yes, as someone who covers the Dolphins on a weekly basis in South Florida I know that the Dolphins in 2019 are awful. No, wait…awful is not a strong enough word to describe a team that has been outscored by an average of 46 points in their first two games to start the 2019 season.
Yes, I know that it’s a team who is not going to be close to the Super Bowl this season unless they get a concession stand inside Hard Rock Stadium for the game. Quite frankly, the Dolphins need a couple seasons of tanking before they can successfully be a playoff team again as the franchise has been to the postseason just once in the last 10 seasons.
It’s also a team that is going to have so much money that can both be given to Jalen Ramsey on his next contract – as well as whoever else the team wants to bring in as long as general manager Chris Greer and head coach Brian Flores can sell free agents on staying the course.
It’s a team that, as of Saturday, has THREE picks in the first round of next year’s NFL Draft and is just going to be stacking them higher and higher in the order of teams if they keep losing at the level at which we have seen with their first two losses this season.
The bottom line: the losing is not going to last that long with the Dolphins if handled right and with draft picks and money, things are going to be fixed in the home state where Ramsey won a national title with the Seminoles and the stadium where he sealed a comeback win over the Hurricanes in 2014.
Jacksonville wants reportedly two first round picks for Jalen Ramsey…the Dolphins have three next year alone. Just think about it.
