James Blackman will pass for 3,000 yards on the season

James Blackman had a good true freshman season, passing for 2,230 yards on 297 pass attempts.

He averaged 7.5 yards per attempt and completed 58 percent of his passes that season. He completed 63 percent of his passes averaging 9.2 yards per attempt to pass for 421 yards in his lone start last season against NC State.

It’s a different offense from last season no doubt, but the Noles will feature arguably the most talented group of wide receivers in the last 10 years.

However, Kendal Briles will lean heavily on the run as long as the offensive line can be effective in run blocking. If so, that should open up the vertical passing game Blackman excels at.

I also anticipate Blackman throwing a lot of quick/short passes to receivers in space which should help this prediction come true.

Blackman will need to average 250 passing yards per game to reach 3,000 yards in the regular season. I see him averaging between 30-35 attempts per game which should get him over the hump.
