Devonta Freeman

The first FSU football running back to rush for 1,000 yards since Warrick Dunn. I’m not sure folk thought that was the case when Devonta Freeman rocked the garnet and gold for the first time.

He had just 42 rushing yards through the first four games of his true freshman season. However, Freeman arrived in the fifth game he played in and was a force ever since.

He had his first career 100 yard rushing game against Duke and followed that up with another 100 yard rushing game the following week against Maryland.

Freeman then started the tradition of south Florida running backs beasting against Miami. He ran for 76 yards on 16 carries against the Canes to help lead FSU to a 23-19 victory.

Freeman also had 44 rushing yards on 15 carries and two touchdowns against the Florida Gators. He finished the season with 579 rushing yards with eight touchdowns and averaging nearly five yards per carry.

He also chipped in with 15 receptions for 111 receiving yards in the passing game. An excellent start to what would become a great career in the garnet and gold.
